So I'm here in my hospital bed, so I can't talk long. However, I found out something quite interesting from one of my doctors that I wanted to share with you all. It is the theory that the
steam from taking a shower causes us to breathe irregularly which in turn causes us as people with Epilepsy to have seizures frequently in the shower. Not sure if this is my problem, but it could be the answer to the many people that have seizures only or most frequently in the shower!
Adios!
For 10 years I was wrongly diagnosed with epilepsy because I would blackout when having or shortly after having a shower.
ReplyDeleteMore recently I was diagnosed with a condition called Vasovagal syncope. To really dumb the condition down, it means im susceptible to fainting. The reason that I would blackout in the shower was basically down to low blood pressure. When sleeping your blood pressure is quite low as is your heart rate. When you stand up, they both increase. If you are also in a hot environment - say a shower - the blood pools into your legs (quite normal) and the blood vessels dilate (also normal) but if your body can not manage to blood pressure correctly you will blackout.
