Today has been a very non-eventful day, so I just wanted to post a quick blog about some of the things that are going on associated to my blog and Epilepsy.
1 - Facebook Page: I have created a simple but informative Facebook page for all of you that are using Facebook a little more than your Blogger. The name of this page is "Your Epilepsy Blogger". It's just getting started so there isn't TONS of stuff on it yet, but there are some amazing pictures of parts of the brain and daily facts about Epilepsy. I also posted an absolutely delicious Sweet and Crunchy Chicken Salad recipe for those currently on the Ketogenic Diet. If you like my blog and you have a Facebook, you should definitely add this page! To visit Your Epilepsy Blogger's Facebook page click here. I am also planning to make a MySpace page later on down the road.
2 - Fundraiser?: Just like me, you have probably noticed that there are extremely few fundraisers for Epilepsy going on in the U.S. If you have visited the sites on my sidebar you will know that there are currently only 5 community fundraisers posted for this entire year. I am planning to host a fundraiser this summer in our neighborhood park or at my church, if possible. It seems like something that is too hard to do, but I put my mind to it last night and I've jotted down hundreds of ideas and I have already made the outline for a fantastic flyer. Why am I telling you this? Well, first of all it's my blog so I can do what I want! Secondly, (this is the real reason) is because I want to see more fundraisers happening for Epilepsy. If I could I would host one in every state, but that's not something I can do alone. I strongly encourage you to host a fundraiser in your community. If you don't have enough ideas or money, team up with friends and volunteers! Great ideas come with teamwork... and isn't that what fundraisers are all about? Teamwork? If that still isn't enough motivation or help, check out these great links below!

Remember, fundraisers don't have to be as huge as the Susan G. Komen Cancer walks. A simple dinner party, auction, or car-wash can be sufficient. Every penny counts.

That's all the news I have for today, but I think you should put some of it to good use! Unfortunately I have nothing new to say about my VNS except that I haven't had but 3 seizures today which is GREAT! God bless you all, goodnight!
Back to studying...

My dear Mandy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and for insightful note. I visited the websites that you recommended, which I found very inspirational. Nick's video made me feel so emotional. I have watched it before, and I have been tearful both times. He is such an amazing man. God bless you.
