Hey everyone, just dropping in...

Just dropping in to say hello, again. It's been a while since I have stopped by Blogger to see how everyone is doing. I apologize for that, but graduation is nearing and my SAT is this weekend so I have been studying like a mad man.

I am sad to say that my seizures are coming back with a vengeance. No grand mals, but tons of almost all the other types of seizures. They haven't gotten too much in the way with school, but it is just sad to know that they are back. Especially after all the treatment. My VNS is turned up almost all the way, now.

What I have found so odd is that all my severe seizures have been happening in the shower while my bathroom radio is playing. I'm dead serious about this. This can happen at all different times of the day, no matter when I'm in the shower. I can't imagine what the explanation could be for this. I listen to the radio all the time when I am outside of my shower and nothing happens to me.

I am really connecting them with hormonal changes. Even at a young age I am experiencing symptoms of an older woman (no offense to you lovely women). I am missing periods (not pregnant) and experiencing vaginal dryness. It is really quite annoying and I don't know what to chalk that up to other than my pituitary adenoma. It is not severe, but enough to make me very uncomfortable. It all seems to come and go at the same time.

Birth control seems like the next option. I was on it before, and it seemed to contribute to the treatment of my Epilepsy. I am contemplating getting back on the pill to just see if it helps again. My diet change of raw vegetables greatly reduced my stomach pain, but brought on more seizures... and I gained the lost 8 lbs. back almost instantly.

I need to find a new diet to help with the weight loss so that my blood pressure can be at a safe level. Atkins and Ketogenic diet are my next two options. I would love to know if any of you out there have been on either of these diets, and how well they worked for you. Feel free to e-mail me or comment on my blog!

According to my doctor I do not have Crohn's disease. He said that I have IBS. This is based on my colonoscopy. I find this to be interesting because I have no symptoms of IBS... I guess sometimes it is better to just be your own doctor. I am not saying that I have Crohn's, but IBS seems like an easy way to diagnose a patient that you can't really diagnose. Somewhat like fibromyalgia.

On the bright side, I am embracing what good health that I do still have. I have found alternative ways to treat my pain such as essential oils like I mentioned in recent blogs, and I have gotten back into my yoga and "christian meditation" when I find the time. By "christian meditation" I basically mean praying in a quiet room for hours on end, or as long as I need to feel empty of pain.

I have a couple really cool blogs planned for the next few months, so please drop in when you get the chance. Thank you for all the wonderful e-mails, and I am so happy that you guys still care to check up. I wish you all the best of health and I will be blogging soon!

  1. Hey Mandy! It's good to see you blogging again. I hope you don't have Crohn's. My little brother has it. You definitely don't need it on top of everything else! I hope you're able to find a way to reduce your seizures. So sorry this is piling up with all the stress of graduating and SATs.

    Hang in there!
